IATF approves temporary suspension of inbound flights to Region VI

The Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Disease (IATF-EID) issued Resolution No. 108 series of 2021 today, which approves the temporary suspension of inbound passenger travel to Region VI from the NCR Plus areas (National Capital Region, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal), Cebu City and Davao City until 10 April 2021.

The provinces of Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, Negros Occidental, and Iloilo are all part of Region VI or the Western Visayas — all popular summer tourist destinations for both local and foreign tourists.

From the side of the Philippine Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB), a directive was given to airlines operating to and from Region VI to coordinate with the concerned local government units (LGUs) who have jurisdiction over airports in the concerned provinces for other restrictions and requirements for their passengers.

Local airlines Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific, and AirAsia Philippines had earlier canceled several of their domestic flights in and out of Manila due to the extension of the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) in the NCR Plus areas until Sunday, 11 April 2021. Under the ongoing ECQ, only essential travel is permitted to and from the NCR Plus bubble.
