Homeless individuals, street dwellers removed from streets of Manila

UP to 34 homeless persons and street dwellers were rescued by the personnel of Manila Department Social Welfare (MDSW) in Manila.

A series of the so-called “reach-out” operations were conducted along the stretch of UN Ave., Roxas Blvd., Taft Ave., Vito Cruz St., Quirino Ave., Osmeña St., Canonigo St., Romualdez St., Nepomuceno St., Laon Laan St., Dimasalang St., Morayta St., Nagtahan St., España Blvd. and Recto Avenue.

The rescued were taken to the Reception and Action Center (RAC), the city’s shelter for the homeless, near the Manila City Hall where MDSW staff will assist of their needs.

According to MDSW Director Reh Fugoso, they are regularly conducting the reach-out operations for the homeless and street dwellers upon the directives of Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” to protect them from COVID-19. (Photo courtesy: Manila Public Information Office)
