ACCESS to the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Twitter account was restricted after it was allegedly hit by hackers on Saturday night.

According to Mark Timbal, OCD Officer-in-Charge and spokesperson of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), said that their social media account was hacked despite security measures that were in place.

We have been locked out from the account. Yes, the account has been hacked despite all the available security measures we employed,” ani Timbal.

Found on the OCD Twitter account were messages related to entrepreneur Elon Musk and SpaceX that have nothing to do with disaster risk reduction and management (DRRM) in the country.

Timbal said their social media specialist and technical staff are already conducting an investigation regarding the incident.

The OCD apologized for the incident and assured the public that their DRRM-related services will continue.

We apologize for any inconvenience that this may have caused, and we assure our people that the DRRM-related services (will) continue along with our usual information dissemination drives to promote public safety and preparedness against hazards and disasters,” the OCD said.
