CITY OF MALOLOS–The Gawad Amerika Foundation conferred the 2020 Hero Survivor award to Bulacan Governor Daniel Fernando during the 19th Gawad Amerika Awards Night held recently in Hollywood, California, USA.
The award was conferred to Gov. Fernando for his “selfless sacrifices and untiring hard work especially during the pandemic.”
In his video message, Fernando thanked the award-giving body headed by Charles Simbulan for the continuous appreciation and recognition of their efforts and victory.
“Ang ganitong parangal ay lalo pong nagbibigay sa atin ng inspirasyon at motibasyon na patuloy na magsikap at mangarap alang-alang sa ating mga pinaglilingkuran,” the governor said.
He also said that is it heartwarming to know that there are people who see and appreciate their endeavor although they do not want to be recognized.
“Hindi ko po hangad o hinahabol na mabigyan ng anumang award. Ginagawa lamang natin ang ating tungkulin na pamunuan ang ating lalawigan tungo sa katiwasayan at kapayapaan. Lalo po ngayon na tayo ay nasa krisis dahil sa pandemya at mga kalamidad, hindi natin iniisip ang anumang parangal, bagkus ay pangunahin nating prayoridad ang kaligtasan at kalusugan ng mga Bulakenyo,” he added.
Aside from Fernando, other prominent personalities who were awarded on the same event were Nora Aunor for Lifetime Achievement Award, Erwin Tulfo for Lakandula Award, Congressman Alfred Vargas for Raja Sulayman Award, and Congresswoman Nina Taduran for the 2020 Outstanding Personality in the Field of Public Service.
Last year, Gawad Amerika awarded Fernando on behalf of Damayang Filipino Movement as the Most Outstanding NGO in the Field of Public Service.
