THE former vice mayor of a town in Quezon province was dead in an apparent ambush in Barangay San Francisco, San Pablo City, Laguna.
According to a report by the San Pablo City Police, former Dolores, Quezon Vice Mayor Danilo Amat was driving his vehicle along the town’s 7th Street when his vehicle was fired upon by a still unidentified assailant.
The victim sustained three gunshot wounds in different parts of the body that caused his instant death.
The suspect immediately fled after the crime.
The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
The police said investigation is ongoing to determine who is behind the gruesome slay and the motive in the killing of the former town official.
It was learned that the former vice mayor received death threats in the past.
