Former BCDA prexy and COVID-19 testing czar is new DOTr chief

THERE is a change of leadership in the Department of Transportation (DOTr) as Vivencio “Vince” Dizon, former president and chief executive officer of the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) and COVID-19 testing chief during the Duterte administration, was appointed as the new transport chief.

Dizon’s appointment is effective February 21, 2025. He replaces current DOTr boss Jaime Bautista, who apparently resigned due to health reasons.

Bautista served for two and a half years under the Marcos administration.

In an announcement by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, Dizon was already instructed to commence with the transition process in coordination with the team of Secretary Bautista.

Bautista expressed his gratitude to the President for the opportunity to work in the government sector, his first government post, which he called as “most enriching, having served with utmost integrity.”
