Focus crimes in the NCR down to 16.9 percent for the past year — PNP

THE Philippine National Police (PNP) said focus crime incidents in the National Capital Region (NCR) went down by 16.9 percent for the past year.

Focus crimes include homicide, physical injury, robbery, rape and carnapping.

Data from the PNP revealed that more than 109,000 crimes were recorded from November 10, 2020 up to January 23, 2022.

This figure is low compared to the more than 131,000 focus crime incidents from September 5, 2019 to November 9, 2020.

PNP chief Dionardo Carlos said this is due to the intensified relations between the police and the communities.

However, the PNP chief did not mention if the lower crime rate is due to the lockdowns that were implemented as part of measures to curb the spread of COVID-19.
