FIVE areas in the National Capital Region (NCR) were placed under moderate risk classification according to the Department of Health (DOH).

This was confirmed by DOH spokesperson Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire during the Laging Handa public briefing held today.

According to Vergeire, the areas are Quezon City, Pasig City, San Juan City, Marikina City and the town of Pateros.

She said that the areas were placed under moderate risk since they came from having a low number of active cases that suddenly jumped by 200 percent.

However, Vergeire added that the public should not be alarmed about this but caution should still be exercised amid the rise in cases.

Aside from that, Vergeire mentioned that one NCR hospital saw its hospital utilization rate increase by 50 percent.

However, majority of patients came from different cities.

Meanwhile, Vergeire said that as of now, it is still doubtful that NCR will be placed under Alert Level 2 status.
