Fishermen, ships told to avoid sea areas covered by Korean space rocket flight zone

THE Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) advised fishermen and other ocean-going vessels to avoid the country’s eastern seaboard or the Philippine Sea, particularly portions in Sta. Ana, Cagayan and Tandag, Surigao del Sur.

This comes after an advisory from the Philippine Space Agency (PHILSA) regarding the flight of a space rocket by the Korea Aerospace Research Institute today.

Howver, the flight of the space rocket can be delayed between October 22 to October 28 depending on weather conditions.

Among the areas pointed to as drop zone is 730 km from Sta. Ana, Cagayan 383 km from Tandag, Surigao del Sur.

Residents living along the country’s eastern seaboard were also cautioned against the possible drifting ashore of debris from the space rocket.

Fishermen and ships were told to avoid the mentioned areas from 2 pm to 6 pm today.

However, the PHILSA said there’s only a very slim chance that debris from the space rocket will hit land.
