SUBIC, ZAMBALES — A fisherman was critically injured after being struck by lightning while fishing in the waters off Calapacuan in Subic, Zambales.
According to police reports, the incident occurred Tuesday afternoon, April 29, while the victim was out at sea with fellow fishermen.
Witnesses say a sudden lightning strike hit the motorized banca while the victim was on board.
The victim was immediately rescued by his companions and brought to shore for emergency medical assistance.
He is currently in critical condition and remains under close observation at James L. Gordon hospital in Olongapo City.
Authorities are reminding the public, especially those engaging in sea-based activities, to take extra precautions during unpredictable weather conditions.
