A 70-year-old man was injured when a fire broke out at a residential area in Barangay West Calaguiman, Samal in Bataan on Friday morning.
Arson probers said Ernesto Rodriguez was hospitalized whose arms were burned when he tried to return home to save some of his belongings.
At least 12 houses were destroyed by the fire, authorities said.
Residents displaced by the fire were given immediate assistance by its Mayor Aida Macalinao, who then responded to the scene.
Arson investigators said they have yet to determine what caused the fire but some residents say it was the overloading of electricity due to illegal connections in the area that caused the inferno.
