Fifteen-year-old boy drowns in Bataan village

THE body of a 15-year-old boy was found on Tuesday afternoon by a Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) team along with other rescue units in Brgy. Diwa, Pilar, Bataan.

According to police reports, the victim was identified as Steven Peralta Abalos, a senior high school student and a resident of the same village.

The investigation by the Philippine National Police revealed that the victim and his three companions went to the Irrigation Area in the village to catch some fish for dinner.

After about an hour, the victim was no longer seen after he allegedly chased a big fish. One of his companions attempted to rescue him but failed due to what was believed to be a strong force under the river that seemed to be swallowing them.

The PCG, together with various rescue teams, led the search and retrieval operations until the lifeless body was found on Tuesday afternoon.
