CITY OF MALOLOS- The provincial government of Bulacan announced that it fully supports the campaign of the Department of Health (DOH) against the spread of Measles and Polio in the country.
That is why Governor Daniel Fernando encourages Bulakenyo parents to vaccinate their children against the fatal diseases and participate in the Measles-Rubella Oral Polio Vaccine Supplemental Immunization Activity (MR-OPV SIA) from February 1-28, 2021.
He said the local government is targeting to vaccinate 279,886 Bulakenyo children against Measles-Rubella, and 327,626 for Oral Polio Vaccine.
In this campaign, children ages nine months to 59 months old will be given added protection against Measles-Rubella; while newborn babies up to 59 months old will be given Oral Polio Vaccine whether they have been vaccinated before or not.
According to Fernando, now that the nation is currently facing a pandemic, they are more aware of the benefits of vaccination as protection from different diseases.
Barangay Health Stations and Rural Health Units will designate a fixed vaccination post on each barangay that is roomy and where social distancing and other minimum health standards will still be observed.
