EXPECT hotter, drier weather for most parts of the country in the coming days.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration or PAGASA said it has monitored the retreat of the High Pressure Area (HPA) over Siberia, which signifies a weakening of the associated northeasterly winds and decreasing sea level pressure in the country.
Also, the state meteorological agency noted that the wind pattern has generally shifted from North-easterlies to Easterlies over most parts of the country as a result of the advancing HPA over the North-western Pacific.
This means the Northeast Monsoon or “Amihan” in the vernacular will dissipate and will thus signal the start of the dry season, generally marked by warmer conditions. This also means rainfall distribution in the country on a daily basis will be influenced mostly be easterlies and localized thunderstorms.
PAGASA advised that the public should now take precautionary measures to minimize and combat heat stress. Health experts have long advised the public to avoid going out on certain times of the day, particularly approaching noontime and early afternoon, increase water intake as much as possible and optimize its daily use for personal and domestic consumption.
The agency said it will continue to monitor the day-to-day weather and climate situation of the country.
