FORMER Manila Mayor Francisco Domagoso (“Isko Moreno) said he we will work to ensure that the local government of Manila will work round-the-clock and help achieve peace, order, and safety in the city so that its residents can sleep soundly.
Domagoso is gunning for the mayoralty position in the country’s premier city against incumbent local chief executive Honey Lacuna.
The former presidential aspirant also vowed in front of a business group that he will bring back his hands-on style of leadership and the local government workers will work on a 24/7 basis.
“Ibabalik ko ang gobyerno na hindi natutulog,” he recalled, while telling members of the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (FFCCCII) that when he was the city’s mayor, he personally patrolled the city in the early morning hours to ensure public order and safety.
“For the first time, nakakita kayo ng mayor na 1AM hanggang 3AM nag-iikot pa sa lungsod ng Maynila to make our people feel, habang natutulog sila sa kanilang pamamahay, may gobyerno sa lungsod ng Maynila, 24 oras sa minamahal nating kapitolyo,” he added.
The former mayor said he received widespread support for his nightly surprise inspections on police stations, hospitals, and public parks in the city.
He likewise assured that business owners in the city can continue to do business in a fair and welcoming environment under his leadership. He also vowed to bring back a business-friendly and worry-free climate and without the red tape.
“I will assure you, you are welcome with ease to go back to the city of Manila and do your business in the city of Manila,” Domagoso tells business leaders.
Domagoso also reiterated his promise to protect investors and entrepreneurs from any form of abuse from the local government, adding that, “under my watch, walang mang-aapi sa inyong taong gobyerno ng lungsod ng Maynila.”
