In celebration of National Women’s Month, the Land Transportation Office—National Capital Region (LTO-NCR) empowered women by offering free All-Women Theoretical Driving Courses (TDCs) in Pasay, San Juan, and Parañaque. The initiative aimed to equip women with essential driving knowledge and skills at no cost.
At the Driver’s Education Center (DEC) in Pasay, 29 women completed their TDC on March 13-14, with both male and female LTO personnel facilitating the sessions. The program was spearheaded by the Pasay City District Office under Chief Liwayway F. Basinang and the Pasay City Licensing Center headed by Ma. Paquita DP Dela Cruz.
The free training not only provided participants with critical knowledge to secure a Student Permit (SP) but also underscored the importance of women’s active participation in the transportation sector.
To further celebrate the occasion, participants were treated to purple-themed cookies and candies—symbolizing the Women’s Month theme—alongside complimentary lunch courtesy of LTO-NCR Pasay.
In San Juan, 27 women completed their TDC at the San Juan Licensing Center (SJLC) led by Chief Romeo B. London, moving them closer to securing their student permits.
Meanwhile, in Parañaque, the Parañaque City Licensing Branch (PCLB-PITX) DEC held two successful TDC sessions on March 11-12 and March 13-14. Nine women earned their certificates under the guidance of instructor Aleanah Jamir Hadji Ibrahim.
LTO-NCR Regional Director Roque “Rox” Verzosa III emphasized the initiative’s role in promoting gender inclusivity within the transport sector, in line with the national theme, “Babae sa Lahat ng Sektor, Aangat ang Bukas sa Bagong Pilipinas.”
“Through these efforts, LTO-NCR continues to champion women’s empowerment by expanding access to driving education and opportunities,” Verzosa said.
