ELECTION lawyer Atty. Romulo Macalintal asked the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to suspend the dismantling of oversized campaign materials that were allowed by private property owners to be placed in their property.
In his letter, Atty. Macalintal requested the poll body to review its guidelines regarding this issue.
Atty. Macalintal earlier insisted that no one is allowed to just enter any private property and remove campaign materials without permission from the property owner.
He also encouraged those who experienced this to file an appropriate complaint with the Supreme Court.
Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez earlier challenged those who question Oplan Baklas to submit a petition with the Comelec or file a case in court.
Jimenez also mentioned that the Comelec en banc already started to look at the provisions of the Fair Elections Act that covers the implementation of Oplan Baklas.
The Comelec, however, has no statement yet regarding the letter of Atty. Macalintal.
