AFTER an altered photo of a “working president” drew flak, Senator Bong Go released an eight-second video of President Rodrigo Duterte doing some jogging exercises inside the Malacañang compound, as proof that the national leader is alive, fit and very much capable to finish his term.
The video, along with photos of the President, wearing a face mask and a shield, seated on a parked all-terrain vehicle, was uploaded Saturday, April 10.
“Mga kababayan ko, malungkot at mahirap ang maging Pangulo sa panahong ito. Suportahan natin si Tatay Digong, ang taong totoong nagmamahal sa ating kapwa Pilipino,” Duterte’s former long-time aide said in his early morning post.
Prior to the video upload, hashtags asking for Duterte’s state of health have trended on various social media platforms despite assurance that the President remained “fit and healthy” for a 76-year-old.
Interestingly, Duterte’s decision to skip two scheduled national public addresses and a Cabinet meeting sparked speculations of an ailment preventing the President from going public.
Malacanang later on admitted that Duterte opted to stay away for the meantime following results that had over 150 members of his elite bodyguards group infected with the deadly virus from Wuhan, China – even after getting vaccinated with reportedly smuggled China-made jabs.
