MALACAŇANG today confirmed that President Rodrigo Duterte signed an executive order that will establish a hospital for the country’s overseas workers.

Cabinet Secretary and Acting Presidential Spokesperson Karlo Nograles said that the president signed Executive Order No. 154 today, December 7, 2021, that directs the establishment of the Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) Hospital.

The EO likewise calls for the creation of the Inter-Agency Committee on the OFW Hospital (ICOH) to be chaired by the Secretary of the Department of Labor and Employment and co-chaired by the Secretary of the Department of Health.

We consider the establishment of this specialty hospital devoted to OFWs as a long overdue recognition of the valuable contribution of Filipino migrant workers to the economy and to the nation,” Nograles said.
