Duterte appoints Ynares as presidential adviser

PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte has appointed former Rizal Governor Casimiro Ynares Jr. as his new presidential adviser with a task of overseeing economic developments in the Southern Tagalog regions.

In appointing Ynares, the former Rizal governor would be calling shots and recommending proposed economic developments and Malacañang concurrence on matters concerning the CALABARZON and MIMAROPA regions.

CALABARZON is composed of Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon, while MIMAROPA is composed of Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan.

Ynares served as Rizal governor for 12 years — from 1992 to 2001, then from 2004 to 2007.

“Pursuant to the provisions of existing laws, you are hereby appointed as Presidential Adviser for Southern Tagalog, Office of the President,” the appointment paper signed by President Duterte stated.

With this development, Ynares has pledged to fulfill the duties and responsibilities entrusted to him by the President, which he said, “to the best of his abilities.”

It was under His tenure as provincial chief executive that Rizal found its way back in the economic map with the influx of investments and infrastructures taking place during his term. It was also him who worked for the transfer of the provincial capitol in a place well within Rizal, and eventually resulting in securing an official capital city 40 years after it was stripped of revenue generating localities which now forms the Metro Manila region.
