THE Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) assured that they will extend all possible assistance to the Department of Education (DepEd) in preparation for the return of face-to-face classes.
The assurance was given by DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan, who said they are already coordinating with the DepEd and all schools nationwide for the implementation of “Oplan Balik Eskwela.”
Based on Bonoan’s directive, a memorandum was issued by DPWH Assistant Sec. Antonio Molano Jr. to all Regional Office and District Engineering Offices nationwide to implement “maintenance activities” and other programs in public schools before the opening of classes on August 22, 2022.
The objective is to make sure that everything related to the return of face-to-face classes will be smooth and orderly.
Among the measures being done by the DPWH is the painting of pedestrian lanes in front of schools, declogging of drainages and canals and the cleaning of manholes and entrance gates in coordination with school heads.
Aside from this, there is the Oplan Balik Eskwela outreach programs, where there will be tree-planting activities, donation drives of school supplies, books, facemasks, and food packs, and other activities..
