INDIVIDUALs face criminal charges if they are proven to have registered with the Commission on Elections (Come;lec) for two times or more.
This came after Comelec Commissioner George Garcia pointed out that there are now 892,627 voters who filed voter registration in two or more separate areas.
Garcia said registration of more than once may be unintentional for some voters.
However, Garcia emphasized that investigation on these individuals will continue and possibly be held responsible by the poll body for violating the law.
But Garcia clarified that they will maintain the original registration of voters to ensure that they will not be disenfranchised or their right to vote in the next elections not violated.
If proven guilty, violators will face imprisonment of 1 to six years.
