DEPARMENT of Transportation (DOTr) Undersecretary for Rails Cesar Chavez confirmed that China will not provide funds anymore for the three big-ticket railway projects pushed before by the administration of former President Rodrigo Duterte.
According to Chavez, China did not act on the request of the Philippine government for the Mindanao Railway, Subi-Clark Railway and Calamba-Bicol railway.
There was no clear reason why China did not act on the request.
Chavez, however, revealed that President Marcos ordered the DOTr to go back to the negotiating table with the Chinese government.
He said the current administration is also considering looking for other sources of funds so that the projects mentioned can already move ahead.
China was supposed to provide funds to the big projects amounting to more than P200 billion.
