THE Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) reminded employers and business owners to observe and comply with correct pay rules for their employees on August 21 and 29, 2022.
August 21 was declared a special non-working day in observance of the 39th death anniversary of former Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr., while August 29 is a regular holiday in celebration of National Heroes Day.
In an advisory released yesterday, Monday, DOLE emphasized the correct payment of additional pay for employees who reported for work on August 21, which fell on a Sunday.
According to Proclamation No.1236 issued by former President Rodrigo Duterte last year, the “no work, no pay” should be in effect except if there is a company policy, practice or collective bargaining agreement (CBA) that provides payment for work done on a special day.
