The Department of Health (DOH), through its Metro Manila Center for Health Development (MMCHD), awarded Malabon City the COVID-19 Response Service Award for the City’s effective efforts to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Malabon City Mayor Lenlen Oreta thanked the DOH for recognizing the City’s response.
“Kakaiba mang hamon sa kalusugan ang naging hatid sa atin ng COVID-19, mas nararapat lang na lalo nating ibigay ang serbisyo na ating magagawa sa abot ng ating makakaya para sa kapakanan at kabutihan ng bawat Malabonian.”
Malabon City has aggressively implemented its “Prevent, Detect/Test, Trace, Quarantine/Isolate, treat” strategy to combat the spread of COVID-19.
The City partnered with the Philippine National Red Cross, Bases Conversion and Development Authority, and the Philippine Coast Guard to establish a mega-swabbing center in the sports center. It has also established four city isolation centers to ensure adequate care for those infected by the virus.
Meanwhile, independent group OCTA Research ranked Malabon City third place with the lowest daily COVID-19 attack rate among the 16 cities and one municipality in the National Capital Region.
The group used and compared data between September 20-October 3 and September 27-October 10.
A lower attack rate means less people are getting infected by the virus.
In its latest COVID-19 update, there are 129 active cases in the City, or 2.43 percent of all confirmed cases. As of 19 October 2020, total confirmed cases have reached 5,304 patients, where 4,973 patients have already recovered, and 202 died.
