THE Department of Energy (DOE) yesterday conducted spot inspections of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) retailing establishments as part of monitoring activities to ensure industry compliance with existing laws, rules and regulations on the selling of LPG.

The inspection team checked if establishments had the Standards Compliance Certificate, which shows that a specific retailer meets the minimum technical and documentary requirements, and verified if their LPG cylinders were appropriately marked (i.e. labels with the serial number, as well as the tare weight and seal).

The team was made of personnel from the DOE-Oil Industry Management Bureau’s (DOE-OIMB) Retail Market Monitoring and Special Concerns Division.
Inspected establishments will receive a copy of the Inspection Report of the DOE-OIMB.
Those found to have committed violations must submit their letter of explanation to the DOE within ten days of receipt of the report.
