MANILA Mayor-elect Francisco Domagoso warned all winning candidates, especially their rivals from opposing parties in the city, to not violate the law.
“It’s a fair warning to everyone. The people of Manila deserve better. They wanted certainty, they wanted rules and put it in order and it’s applicable to everyone,” Domagoso said in an interview with an online news channel.
“No abuse will be done by these congressmen under my watch –no! not a single day,” the returning mayor added.
However, Domagoso is hopeful that the congressmen will do their jobs at the House of Representives.
He said that people are aware of the situation and the anger of House members such as 2nd District Rep. Roland Valeriano and 3rd District Rep. Joel Chua.
“Even sa national slate, napansin ko–alam ng tao yung sitwasyon so, they paid the price, and I think they should learn their lesson very well–it’s a very painful lesson to any candidate, if I were in their shoes I will feel the same,” explains Domagoso.
“Ako naman nanawagan sa mga lider at mamamayan na magbati-bati na because there’s so much words thrown to us–very hurtful,” he continued.
He also gave advice to the losing candidates, that a leader should be the first to accept defeat and move on with their lives so that their supporters will also learn how to graciously accept defeat.
