MEMBERS of the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority’s (SBMA) Fire Department conduct a routine checkup of fire rescue tools, two days before the celebration of the International Day for Disaster Reduction.

The observance of this important day is an opportunity to acknowledge the progress being made toward reducing disaster risks and losses in lives, livelihoods and health.

Among the fire rescue tools inspected at the SBMA equipment yard today, Monday, October 11, included the “Jaws of Life” hydraulic power tool and power saws,

This year’s celebration focuses on “International cooperation for developing countries to reduce their disaster risk and disaster losses.”
