A TOTAL of two police officers have already died from a New People’s Army attack in Las Navas, Northern Samar.
According to Police Regional Office 8 (PRO-8) Regional Director Police BGen. Bernard Banac, the second police casualty died early this morning while being treated at a hospital.
BGen. Banac did not identify the slain cop since they have yet to inform to inform the fallen policeman’s family.
Meawhile, the first policeman casualty of the attack was identified as Patrolman Harvie Cortez Lovino, 30 years old.
Aside from the two slain policemen, two cops and two soldiers were also wounded in the attack and are now being treated at the hospital.
Banac condemned the attack and said the planting of explosives is a clear violation of human rights.
Because of this, Banac said they will continue to intensify their campaign against communist rebels.
It can be recalled that last Monday, an improvised explosive device (IED) exploded at a police and military convoy that was just passing by at Las Navas.
