A 30-year-old marketing assistant was killed while her father in critical condition after a motorcycle they were riding was sideswiped by a trailer truck along the intersection of Mel Lopez boulevard and Matimtiman Street, in Tondo, Manila.
Police identified the victims as Ann Regilyn P Salandanan, who died instantly at the scene due to her body and head injuries and father Nilo Paypon, 53, both residents of San Ignacio St. in Tondo.
Paypon is still recuperating at a hospital after sustaining bruises in different parts of his body.
According to the Manila Police District-Public Information Office, the incident took place around 5:42 in the afternoon on Friday, October 23, at the northward lane of Mel Lopez, and Matimtiman St.
Investigation shows that the Yamaha NMAX driven by Paypon with Salandanan on his back, coincided with the truck as the latter was turning the left side of the intersection as they both crossed the northbound lane of Mel Lopez Blvd.
Instead of stopping, the unidentified driver immediately fled the scene.
Police are now in the manhunt to look for the driver.
