THE Bureau of Customs-Port of Ninoy Aquino International Airport (BOC-NAIA) has once again discovers and confiscated large amount of US dollar bills at a Federal Express warehouse at the NAIA complex in Pasay City.
The US dollar bills with a total amount of $ 38,700 pinned inside the pages of a magazine declared as postal documents which arrived on November 2 at the FedEx warehouse.
The alleged parcel brought to the country by a certain Jacqualine Paas from the United States.
According to NAIA customs district collector Carmelita Talusan, the dollars were sent to three different consignees in Barangay Poblacion in Muntinlupa City.
The package contained foreign currency through a 100% physical examination by the NAIA custom examiners.
It will be recalled that just last week ago, the BOC-NAIA also seized US13,500.00 which were not declared a Foreign currency bill and tried to smuggle it into the country.
In total, the US dollar bills seized by NAIA customs personnel reached to P29,875,000 million in pesos.
Talusan reiterated to the public under the BSP Manual of Foreign Exchange Transaction that the import of a foreign currency bill only needs to be declared through the Foreign Currency Declaration Form.
