Only 6,414 new COVID-19 cases were registered today by the Department of Health (DOH).
There were 163 recoveries while 242 died from the disease, according to the DOH COVID-19 Case Bulletin #389 released this afternoon.
Since the start of the pandemic, there are now 819,164 COVID-19 cases in the country, with 646,404 recoveries and 14,059 COVID-19 deaths.
Active cases totaling 158,701 are also being treated in several facilities.
According to the DOH, the relatively lower number of COVID-19 cases registered today was due to the low number of samples received by laboratories last April 5, 2021.
Around 10 duplicates were removed from the total case count. Of these, 7 are recoveries. Moreover, 133 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.
Also, five laboratories failed to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS) on April 6, 2021.
