A day after registering its lowest count in weeks, new COVID-19 cases in the country continued a mini downward slide, according to latest data from the Department of Health (DOH).
Based on the DOH COVID-19 Case Bulletin # 417, there were 5,685 new COVID-19 cases registered today, May 5, 2021, while active cases were at 62,713.
This brings the COVID-19 infections in the country to reach a 1,073,555 total.
Meanwhile, 8,961 were able to recover from the infection to bring the total to 993,042 recoveries.
Sadly, there were 178 deaths today to up the total to 17,800 individuals who succumbed to the deadly disease.
According to the DOH, it received a low number of samples from the laboratories, which explains the low number of cases recorded today.
