THE Department of Health (DOH) said the number of COVID-19 deaths for the first two weeks of June is still quite high.
DOH Chief Epidemiologist Dr. Alethea de Guzman said the 720 deaths from COVID-19 for the period mentioned is still quite high, although this is still lower compared to the previous month.
This is equivalent to a daily average of 51 COVID-19 deaths for the first part of June.
However, this is still lower compared to the month of May wherein it recorded 3,000 deaths while a total of 3,563 deaths was recorded in April, the highest ever since the COVID-19 pandemic hit the country.
This is equivalent to a daily average of 97 recorded last May and 119 in April.
The DOH sees the number of COVID-19 deaths to drop even more significantly since the government is doing all it can to vaccinate more Filipinos to reach the “population protection” level.
