Cop nabbed for drugs in Iligan City

OPERATIVES of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and Philippine National Police Integrity Monitoring Enforcement Group (PNP-IMEG) conducted a joint buy-bust operation that resulted in the arrest of a police patrolman in Brgy. Del Carmen, Iligan City on Saturday evening.

PNP chief Police General Guillermo Eleazar announced the apprehension of Patrolman Saidamin Bonsalagan Bagul alias Borge.

Eleazar said that Bagul was in active service and assigned with the 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company of the Lanao del Norte Police Provincial Office.

IMEG operatives conducted the buy-bust operation against Bagul in coordination with the Lanao Del Norte PPO, Provincial Intelligence Unit and Special Intelligence Unit, Regional Mobile Force Batallion, and operatives from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).

Seized from Bagul were four pieces of heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets that white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu and weighing approximately 20 grams; Php1,000 bill buy-bust money placed on top of 14 pieces of counterfeit currency worth P14,000; a cellular phone; rifle with five magazines loaded with live ammunitions; a pistol with one magazine loaded with ammunitions; and one Hyundai Accent vehicle.

The suspect is facing charges for violation of Section 5 (sale of dangerous drugs) in relation to Section 26, Paragraph B (conspiracy to sell) of Article II of Republic Act No. 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

He assured that stiffest administrative sanctions will be meted on the errant cop.
