Construction of isolation facility for COVID-19 patients in Marikina, completed

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the 136-bed capacity quarantine / isolation healthcare facility in Marikina City.

The facility is located in Barangay Nangka.

“We are continuously converting containers into mobile health facilities to assist the Department of Health (DOH) in fighting COVID-19,” said Secretary Mark Villar.

Within a month and a half, the DPWH Metro Manila 1st District Engineering Office (DEO) converted 37 units of 40-foot container vans and a unit of 20-footer container vans into 136 air-conditioned rooms.

It will be used as a temporary medical facility for suspected and confirmed COVID-19 cases with mild symptoms.

At the facility, there are eight rooms for health workers, two rooms for X-ray and Laboratory, two rooms for Doctors and Nurse Station, and one electrical room.

Meanwhile, the 62-bed capacity isolation facility made up of 34 units of container vans inside the Pateros Elementary School Gymnasium has also been completed.

It also has an office, health workers ’dorm room, control center room, and laboratory.
