THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) released new resolutions related to the upcoming national and local polls in May 2022.
Among these resolutions is Resolution No. 10746 for the “liquor ban” that will be effective starting May 8 until the day of the elections, which is May 9, 2022.
However, exempted from the ban are hotels, resorts, restaurants, and other similar establishments that are “duly certified” by the Department of Tourism.
Other establishments of the same nature in the NCR and other provinces, cities and municipalities can likewise file an application for exemption with the National Capital Region (NCR) Regional Election Director, Provincial Election Supervisors or City Election Officers.
Resolution No. 10728, on the other hand, will enforce a “gun ban” or “firearms ban” during the election period.
Also issued was Resolution No. 10741 for the establishment of Comelec checkpoints to ensure the effective implementation of the gun ban.
Meanwhile, Resolution No. 10747 will enforce a ban on the conduct of “public works or infrastructure projects.”
Also barred is the release, disbursement or spending of public funds.
Resolution No. 10743 also allows for the “deputization” of government agencies to ensure the free, peaceful, honest and trustworthy elections.
Finally, Resolution No. 10742 bars the appointment or hiring of new employees, creation of new government positions, adjustments in salaries, the transfer of civil service employees and suspension of elective local officials.
Copies of each resolution can be found or read at the Comelec’s official website.
