THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) approved the petition for exception of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) so that it will be able to continue the implementation of its fuel subsidy program.
However, Comelec Commissioner George Garcia said the poll body will be very strict in the program’s implementation and will request for information from the LTFRB on how it will implement the program, including its parameters and target beneficiaries.
It should also be clear in terms of the application process and possible beneficiaries
The LTFRB earlier suspended the distribution of the fuel subsidy since this activity is covered by the public spending ban in relation to the national and local elections for 2022. However, the approval of the LTFRB’s petition for exception means the program will continue.
