The Clark International Airport Corporation has started using the contact tracing app Traze today to track personnel movement and identify staff who are either suspected carriers or are probably exposed to the COVID-19 virus.
“The use of this app is in line with the directive of Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade to help improve the efficiency of government efforts in battling the spread of the COVID-19 within the aviation and airports sector,” said Irish Calaguas, CIAC vice president.
The aviation and airports sectors include the CIAC, Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines, Manila International Airports Authority, Civil Aeronautics Board, and the Mactan-Cebu International Airport Authority.
“Using this app, we have posted QR codes on doors of all our offices to be scanned, then we’ll be able to track personnel movement from one building or work station to another through an in-app notification sent to all who may have come in contact with an identified COVID-19-positive patient and so precautionary measures may be applied early on,” Calaguas explained.
“The Traze app will greatly boost government efforts to help ensure a COVID-19-free workplace for the benefit of employees, and their families and communities,” Calaguas added.
The free Traze app is a nationwide and unified QR code-based app co-developed by the Philippine Ports Authority and Cosmotech Philippines Inc. which automates the contact tracing procedures of agencies under the DOTr.
Aside from Clark International Airport, three other major airports now use the TRAZE Contact Tracing App including Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA), and Davao International Airport (DIA).
