PHILIPPINE National Police (PNP) chief PGen. Dionardo Carlos has asked the chiefs of the eight cops arrested yesterday for robbery in Angeles City, Pampanga to explain their side.
According to PNP Chief Carlos, the chiefs need to explain why their men were involved in the incident.
If he is not contented with their explanation, PGen. Carlos said he will enforce the PNP’s One-Strike policy.
PGen. Carlos also assured that the eight policemen from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) anti-organized crime unit involved in the incident will be dismissed from the service.
It was learned that the eight cops were arrested by their CIDG colleagues who responded to a “Robbery in Progress” call at the house of seven Chinese nationals in Angeles City.
The team leader of the arrested cops explained that they were conducting a buy-bust operation, but upon further investigation, it was learned that the eight policemen robbed the Chinese nationals.
Confiscated from the suspects were P300,000 in cash, US dollar bills and cheques.
Meanwhile, in an update from CIDG Public Information Officer (PIO) PLt. Col. Mon Sawan, he said the eight suspects were already charged with Robbery with Violence and Intimidation at the Office of the City Prosecutor in Angeles City.
