CHED rejects call for Luzon-wide “academic break”

THE Commission on Higher Education (CHED) has rejected the call for a Luzon-wide ‘academic break; due to the massive flooding caused by typhoon Ulysses.

According to CHED Chairperson Prospero de Vera, they cannot decide on the issue and it is up to the regional school administrator’s if they wanted to suspend the class.

“No to both, especially for the nationwide academic break because the impact of the typhoon and the disasters are different in some parts of the country,” said de Vera.

Earlier, the professors of the University of the Philippines (UP) called for the end of the semester and not to wait until December due to disasters.
