THE Department of Education (DepEd) said it will still use both face-to-face classes and distance learning for the incoming academic year.
DepEd Undersecretary Nepomuceno Malaluan emphasized that the education sector reaped benefits in the implementation of the distance learning modality for the past two years of the pandemic so there are still parts of it that will be retained.
Among these are the participation of the parents in the children’s learning process, the children’s skills in studying unassisted, and the new-found attitude of accepting gadgets not just for play or entertainment but also as toll for studying and teaching.
Despite all these, Malaluan said that the country is now heading towards the direction of transitioning to the new normal.
At present, Malaluan said they are now working on drafting the new guidelines for the mode of learning that will be implemented for the next school year starting August.
One example is determining how many days will children attend face-to-face classes and how many days for remote learning.
According to Malaluan, this system is used not only in the Philippines but in other parts of the world.
