DEPARTMENT of Health (DOH) Secretary Francisco Duque III gave his approval to the recommendation of the Health Technology Assessment Council (HTAC) for the administration of the first Pfizer booster dose for the country’s children aged 12-17 years old.
This was confirmed by DOH Spokesperson and Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire.
She said that the DOH is now in the process of finalizing the guidelines in giving the first Pfizer booster shot for the aforementioned age group.
When asked when the guidelines will be released, Vergeire said this will be released in the next few days.
The HTAC already earlier submitted to Duque their recommendation and since this was already given the go-signal for implementation, the guidelines are needed to push through with the vaccination using the Pfizer booster dose for the 12-17 age group.
It can be recalled that the Philippine Food and Drug Administration (FDA) amended the emergency use authorization (EUA) of Pfizer as booster shot for the target age group.
