Benguet chills at 7.9°C this morning, the coolest so far

For those with plans to go up the northern part of the Philippines, pack your bags with sweaters, jackets and all other apparel to use against the biting cold.

Prepare to have plenty of coffee or any hot beverage or soup as the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) recorded the lowest temperature in the Philippines so far this year at 7.9°C this morning in Benguet.

It was recorded at the Benguet State University in La Trinidad, Benguet.

In nearby Baguio City, it was a freezing 9.0°C.

For Tagaytay City, it was about 17.°C while Metro Manila chilled to 19.3°C on Sunday, according to the weather bureau.

The lowest recorded temperature in Baguio City and in the country was at 6.3°C, which happened on January 18, 1961 while for Metro Manila, it was 14.5°C more than a hundred years back, or January 11, 1914 to be exact.
