Average daily new COVID-19 cases in the country pegged at 2,556 from Sept. 19-25

THE Department of Health (DOH) reported that 17,891 new COVID-19 cases were recorded in the country from September 19 to 25.

This means the average number of new COVID-19 cases for the week mentioned reached 2,556, which is 22-percent higher compared to the number of daily new cases from September 12 to 18, 2022.

Among the new COVID-19 cases, two were listed as severe and critical, while there were 242 fatalities, where 29 deaths occurred between September 12 to 25.

Meanwhile, 790 cases were listed as severe and critical on September 25 who were confined due to COVID-19. Out of the 2,514 ICU beds allotted for COVID-19 patients, 576 or 22.9 percent were occupied, while 27.8 percent of the 21,078 non-ICU COVID-19 beds are currently being used.

As regards vaccination, 73 million individuals or 93.49 percent of the target population are already vaccinated against COVID-19, while 19 million received booster shots. On the other hand, 6.8 million senior citizens or 78.36 percent of the target A2 population have already received their primary series.
