POLICE chiefs were tasked to assist in intensified information dissemination campaign on vaccination and the rules on alert level system and granular lockdown.
This was the instruction of Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Police General Guillermo Eleazar amid the continuous increase of COVID-19 infections in the country.
This as the vaccination of those under the A5 category are now allowed, according to vaccine czar and National Task Force Against COVID-19 chief implementer Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr.
PGen Eleazar instructed police personnel to assist in educating the public about the importance of the government’s inoculation program, especially the effectiveness of COVID-19 vaccines approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Those part of the A5 category includes indigent population not otherwise included in the preceding categories.
Meanwhile, PGen Eleazar also tasked the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) to strengthen its information campaign about the enforcement of the new alert level system and the granular lockdown to avoid confusion among the public, as he directed cops to be familiar with the new guidelines for its orderly enforcement and to avoid confusion.
The PNP chief stressed the importance of being well-informed in this time of pandemic wherein fake news, especially in social media, has been prevalent.
“Having the right information and cooperation are effective weapons in the fight against COVID-19, that is why the PNP will remain active in implementing all measures to prevent the pandemic from getting worse,” he said.
