Olongapo City, Zambales – Mayoralty candidate Dr. Arnold Vegafria transformed Magsaysay Drive into a vibrant street party on Friday night, staging a Mardi Gras-style thanksgiving rally that drew thousands of supporters and spectators.
The well-known businessman and talent manager paraded a lineup of performers along two full blocks of the city’s entertainment district, offering a preview of his vision to reinvigorate Olongapo’s nightlife and tourism industry.
With an elaborate two-stage setup, the event featured popular artists including Geneva Cruz, Rojun Cruz, Teejay Marquez, CJ Opiaza, Dia Mate, Jasmine Omay, Timothy Tuppil, Michelle Arceo, Jae Acosta, and Alexa Rosales—delighting the massive crowd that gathered.
“This is the kind of energy I want to bring back to Magsaysay Drive, once a bustling hub of entertainment and tourism,” Vegafria said. “If I can make this happen now, imagine what we can achieve when I’m in office.”
He revealed that he has already begun talks with investors eager to establish entertainment ventures in the city. Citing his extensive network of industry leaders and business partners, Vegafria emphasized his commitment to restoring Olongapo’s reputation as a premier tourist destination.
Despite not receiving the endorsement of the Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC), Vegafria responded with humility and respect.
“With all humility, I accept and respect the decision of the Iglesia Ni Cristo, even if it does not favor me in this election,” he stated. “Every organization has its own process and criteria for decision-making, and that deserves to be respected.”
He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to be heard by the religious group, adding, “The Iglesia Ni Cristo shares our vision for change and progress in Olongapo. My desire to serve remains steadfast—regardless of faith, belief, or political affiliation.”
Vegafria ended the evening with a call to unity: “The fight for a new Olongapo continues. Together, we will move forward toward a more humane, orderly, and prosperous city.”
