Applications for voter’s certification continues — Comelec

THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) continues to issue voter’s certification for local and overseas voters a week after a fire hit the Comelec office in Intramuros, Manila. 

Comelec acting spokesperson John Rex Laudiangco said that the poll body’s Election Records and Statistics Department (ERSD) and Office For Overseas Voting (OFOV) is ready to receive applications for voter’s certification.

The public is hereby informed that the issuance of voter’s certification at the Comelec main office resumes today, August 8. We are now accepting requests/applications for issuance of overseas voters’ certificates starting today,” according to a Comelec advisory.

Applicants for local voter’s certification were advised to go to the ERSD office located at the FEMII Building Extension in Intramuros.

They just need to present a valid ID and submit a photocopy and pay the P75 fee. If an authorized representative will file the application, an authorization letter authorizing the representative to file the application plus the valid ID should also be presented. 

On the other hand, voter’s certificate is free of charge for senior citizens, persons with disability (PWDs), members of Indigenous Peoples (IP), Indigenous Cultural Communities (ICC) and solo parents.

The certification by the local voter shall be secured from the poll body through the Office of the Election Officer (OEO) of the district, city or municipality where the voter is registered.

For overseas voter certification, the application can be filed with the OFOV at the Comelec main office.

The applicant just need to present a passport or any government-issued ID of the registered overseas voter and pay the P100 certification fee.

An authorization letter from a registered overseas voter is also needed if filing of an application is done through a representative.

The voter’s certification is a document that serves as a temporary voter’s ID upon the request of a registered voters.

The certification is valid for one year from date of issue.
