THE Department of Health (DOH) logged a total of 26,303 daily COVID-19 cases today, a new all-time high since the pandemic began, according to the Department of Health (DOH) COVID-19 Case Bulletin issued today, September 11, 2021.

The previous record of 22,820 cases was established only last September 9, 2021.

However, the DOH wishes to note that out of the 26,303 new cases reported today, September 11, a total of 1,608 were cases which should be included in the September 10 topline numbers. The other 24,695 are actual cases to be reported for September 11.

For cases in NCR, of the 9,061 total cases reported today, 447 should have been reported for September 10.

This brings the total number of COVID-19 infections in the country to hit past the 2.2-million mark with a total of 2,206,021 cases.

Also, the number of active cases continues to shoot up after hitting 185,706 cases from yesterday’s 175,470 count. Active cases or patients are those undergoing treatment in government hospitals and temporary quarantine facilities.

There were only 79 COVID-19 deaths logged today, lower compared to yesterday’s 168 total. This brings the total number of COVID-19 fatalities today to 34,978.

The DOH also listed only 16,013 recoveries today, an improvement from yesterday’s 9,067 count.

The number of total recoveries, on the other hand, inched closer to 2 million with 1,985,337 individuals who have already recovered from COVID-19.

Positivity rate slid back to 27.6 percent from yesterday’s 28.9 percent rate, with 75,688 people who were tested.

Majority, or 95.5 percent of the cases, are mild and asymptomatic.

A total of 52 duplicates were removed from the total case count, of which 45 were recoveries.

Also, 32 cases tagged earlier as recoveries were reclassified as deaths upon final validation.

All laboratories were operational on September 8, 2021 while two laboratories were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS). Based on data in the last 14 days, the two non-reporting laboratories contribute, on average, 0.8 percent of samples tested and 1.1 percent of positive individuals.

While some technical issues have been resolved by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), there are CDRS data not yet included in CK and remain unavailable for extraction. This has led to some delays in inclusion of new data for cases, deaths, and recoveries. The DICT is continuing their investigation.

“While we await full resolution of this issue, we may observe some delays in inclusion of some data in our topline numbers in the coming days but we are managing this by generating data from CDRS and submitted line lists by our disease reporting units,” the DOH said in the case bulletin issued today.

Still, the agency continues to remind the public to ensure their safety and to strictly observe safety protocols and to have themselves vaccinated as soon as possible. The DOH also reiterates that the safety of the country is everyone’s responsibility, and that by helping each other, the country will overcome this COVID-19 pandemic.
