ANTIPOLO City, Rizal — Weeks after the temporary closure of a government hospital in Barangay Dalig, the city government has declared a five-day holiday for the Rizal Provincial Hospital System (RPHS) – Annex 1 in Barangay dela Paz.
In a Facebook post, Mayor Andrea Ynares said that the operating and delivery room complex would have to shut down following results showing several hospital staff positive for the highly-infectious COVID-19. The post, however, did not say as to how many of the hospital staff were infected.
According to the mayor, the city government is simultaneously undertaking disinfection of the facility, testing and contact tracing of persons who may have been exposed to the infected hospital personnel.
Previously, 20 healthcare workers from the city-based RPHS in Barangay Dalig yielded positive to the virus from Wuhan, China, compelling the city government to impose a temporary closure.
Interestingly, Antipolo has three other hospital facilities where local folks may seek help in emergency cases.
